Eyes Wide Open | Gotye
You’ve likely heard the incredible Gotye-Kimbra song Somebody I Used to Know (if you haven’t go listen right now!), but I have found that not as many people have checked out the rest of Gotye’s new LP Making Mirrors (2011). His album is dancey almost-disco electric but lyrically beautiful and creates mental movies for each individual song. He is unique because recent years have seen so few male pop-singers with substantial lyrical or musical talent that appeal to listeners over the age of 14. Eyes Wide Open is a perfect example of the upbeat and CATCHY songs on Gotye’s album. It is followed by Giving Me a Chance, another great song, which is slower but still pop-electric and just as lovely. I highly recommend the whole album.
